- TCL is reportedly making an expandable device
- The first pictures of the device were leaked by CNET
- TCL phone bears an uncanny resemblance to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10
Just when the world is obsessing over the foldable phones by Samsung and Motorola, TCL is reportedly working on a slide-out display. Although TCL is not as a sought-after brand as Samsung and Motorola are, they always try to come up with innovative displays. So unlike the foldable phones, the TCL phone reportedly has a second screen which slides out from underneath the main screen. It feels more like an extendable bed or a dining table if you come to think of it.
The first pictures were leaked by CNET and they also reported that TCL apparently had plans to unveil the phone during the Mobile World Congress 2020 which was supposed to be held in Barcelona, Spain but got cancelled due to coronavirus outbreak. Although TCL has showcased its prototype foldable phones on many occasions, it is yet to release one in the market for customers.
The TCL phone bears an uncanny resemblance to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 when the second screen is not extended. However, when it's expanded it looks slightly like a tablet but the design raises a lot of eyebrows. From the looks of it, it is an expandable device but how does when get to experience a large screen when the slider is beneath the main screen? Is it possible for the second screen to immerse with the first one after it is pulled out will there be a slight bend because of the design. These questions would remain unanswered until we actually get to see the phone or use it.
The Chinese brand is very experimental when it comes to displays but have not released single foldable or expandable phones in the market. So the users might have to wait a bit to hear an announcement from TCL about the phone launches.
Coming back to Samsung's foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip that has been launched in the United States for $1380 has a full-sized 6.7-inch display. It has a foldable OLED panel that has a screen resolution of 2636*1080 pixels. The Galaxy Z flip is powered by a 7nm 64-bit Octa-Core chipset supported with 8GB of RAM and 256 GB storage capacity. The phone has made all right kind of noises but has not been launched in India yet. It is Samsung's second foldable device after Galaxy Fold.
Motorola too has brought back its iconic Razr series, with the foldable Moto Razr. The phone was launched in the US for $1, 500 and it is likely to come to India by March, April. Surprisingly, the Motorola phone costs more than Samsung's foldable device but it would be interesting to see how the devices will be priced in India.
