Apple has announced the Apple Watch series 2, which will be available in India starting October 7.
While the Apple Watch Series 2 looks similar to the first generation Apple Watch, it is faster, brighter, has built-in GPS and comes with Watch OS 3.
The Apple Watch Series 2 is swim proof, with water resistant for up to 50 meters.
Apple claims to have redesigned the speaker on the new Watch so that the speaker actually has a mechanism that pushes out water.
Apple Watch Series 2 gets S2 chipset, which has Dual-core processor that is up to 50 percent faster.
There is a new GPU with twice the graphics performance. The 2nd generation display is 2x display brighter at 1000 nits.
Apple acknowledges that two more activities are walking and running and Apple Watch Series 2 gets built-in GPS.
Apple claims that the Series 2 Apple Watch will link to satellite as soon as you hit the start button.
There is also an Apple Watch Nike+ with a stretchable, breathable band with aluminium case Apple Watch.
There is also a White Apple Watch made of ceramic which is four times more stronger than aluminium.
Apple has priced the Apple Watch Series 2 and Apple Watch Nike+ for $369.
Apple Watch is available in two different case sizes, 38 mm and 42 mm.
Apple Watch Series 1 will be available in gold, rose gold, silver or space grey aluminium cases paired with a Sport Band and starts at just Rs 23,900.
Apple Watch Series 2 will be available in gold, rose gold, silver or space grey aluminium, or silver or space black stainless steel cases paired with a wide variety of bands starting at Rs 32,900; and the new ceramic Apple Watch Edition starts Rs 1,10,900 from select Apple Authorised Resellers and carriers. Apple Watch Nike+ starts at Rs 32,900.
Apple Watch Nike+ will be available to order beginning Friday, September 9, with availability in late October in India as well.
Apple Watch Series 2 will require iPhone 5 or later running iOS 10 or later. WatchOS 3 and iOS 10 will be available beginning Wednesday, September 14 as a free software update.
At the keynote, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that Apple has become number two watch after Rolex in just 18 months after the launch. Also, it is the best-selling device in its category.
