Just as there were a host of gadget launches around Diwali, there are a large number of them scheduled around Christmas too. Some are already announced while big names such as Nokia, Sony, Lenovo and Acer are all gearing up with new offerings too.
On Monday, Nokia is likely to launch the two new phablets it announced a couple of months ago at the Nokia World meet.
The Lumia 1320 and the Lumia 1520 are both 6-inch phablets. The Lumia 1320 will be powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM, a 5MP camera and a 3400 mAh battery. The Lumia 1520's display comes with 1080p resolution and has a 2.2 GHz Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 20 MP PureView camera with an optical image stabilization.
On the same day, Nvidia also plans to launch the Xolo Play Tegra Note, which the company claims is the world's fastest 7-inch Android tablet. Already listed on online portal, Flipkart for Rs 18,990, the tablet comes with a 7-inch HD IPS LCD (1280x800) display and is powered by a 1.8GHz Tegra 4 processor with a 72-core GeForce GPU and quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU.
Lenovo is expected to launch a new smartphone, the Vibe X, on December 17. The device was announced at IFA Berlin, earlier this year. Yet again, this is a phablet with a 5 inch display with 1920 x 1080p resolution. It will be powered by 1.5GHz quad-core Media processor with 2GB RAM.
Launched in the US last month, Sony's PlayStation 4
has been an overwhelming success. The company sold a million units in just a day. Sony is launching the PS4 in India on December 18.
Acer is likely to announce the launch of its new tablet PC on December 19. Even Gionee will be bringing its Elife E7 to India on Christmas Eve.
