iPad 2 to be launched in India on Friday

With a 10-hour battery backup, the tablet will be available in both the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G versions and it would be priced from Rs 29,500.

After Apple Inc was criticized for having launched the iPad in India only this January, the company has decided to give India better treatment and will launch the iPad 2 on April 29. That same day, the new iPad will also be available in other countries, including Hong Kong, Israel, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey and the UAE. The iPad 2 comes with a new design that is 33 per cent thinner and up to 156 per cent lighter than the original. It has a 9.7-inch LED-backlit LCD display. Powered by Apple's new dual-Core 5 processor for fast operation and stunning graphics, iPad will now have two cameras: a front-facing VGA for FaceTime and one at the rear for capturing HD videos. With a 10-hour battery backup, the tablet will be available in both the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G versions.

Apple has decide to price the iPad 2 fairly. The 16 GB Wi-Fi version will be available for Rs 29,500. The 32 GB and 64 GB Wi-Fi will be priced at Rs 34,500 and Rs 39,500 respectively. The pricing for the Wi-Fi + 3G 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB versions will be Rs 36,900, Rs 41,900 and Rs 46,900 respectively. A smart cover will also be available in vibrant colours for Rs 2,100 and a leather one for Rs 3,800.
