Nexus 5, Nexus 7 start selling on Google Play

The 16 GB variant of the Nexus 5 costs Rs 28,999 and the 32 GB version Rs 32,999 on the Play Store. In retail stores, the 16GB variant costs Rs 1,000 more, priced at Rs 29,990.

Nexus 5, Nexus 7 start selling on Google Play

Nexus 5, the much talked about Google phone,  that had been listed on the Play Store since last month is now available for purchase through Google Play (Google's online store) as well as from local retailers.

Google may have underestimated demand for its flagship Nexus 5 phone as it ran out of stock within hours of listing for sale in India. Shortly after the devices went on sale, the Google Play store displays the message: "We are out of stock. Please check back soon."

The sales number could not be ascertained.

The 16 GB variant of the Nexus 5 costs Rs 28,999 and the 32 GB version Rs 32,999 on the Play Store. In retail stores, the manufacturer of the device, LG, is also pushing sales . Here, the 16GB variant costs Rs 1,000 more, being priced at Rs 29,990. However, very few units have been shipped in yet.

The Nexus 5 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and features a 4.95-inch full HD display, 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM, an 8 MP rear camera with OIS, a 2,300mAh battery with connectivity options including Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, etc.

Along with the Nexus 5 smartphone, the new Nexus 7 (2013) tablet has also been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 20,999 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only variant. The 32GB Wi-Fi only will come for Rs 23,999 whereas the LTE variant is priced at Rs 27,999. The Nexus 7 starts shipping from November 26. It has a 7 inch Full HD IPS display with 1920 x 1200 p resolution and will be powered by 1.5Ghz quad-core processor with 2GB RAM.
