Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has revealed that its new smartphone-OnePlus 2-will be priced under $450 (Rs 28,599). Earlier this year, sources inside the company had claimed that the phone would be launched for 1,999 Yuan, which is about $322 (Rs 20,600).
The official Twitter account of OnePlus tweeted "We've seen price estimates for the #OnePlus2 upwards of $500. Honestly, it's never been about the price." It also has an image of Pete Lau, CEO, OnePlus stating, 'I can promise that the OnePlus 2 will be priced under $450".
As per the specifications revealed, the OnePlus 2 will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset and features USB Type-C connector and a fingerprint scanner.
It is also rumoured to have a full metal body, 3GB of RAM and a 16MP rear camera. It will be the most affordable smartphone running Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset as the Sony Xperia Z3+ and LG G Flex 2 are priced over Rs 50,000.
The OnePlus 2 will be unveiled on July 27 through Virtual Reality. The company has designed cardboard VR headsets especially for this event that will go on sale on Amazon.in in the third week of July. The event is scheduled for 7:00 PM on July 27 Pacific Time, which will be 7:30 AM on July 28 for the Indian audience.
