- The Nokia 2.4 was launched in Europe back in September.
Nokia 2.4 is the latest smartphone that HMD Global has added to its 2020 lineup in India. This is the third smartphone that the company has launched so far in India after the Nokia 5.3 and Nokia C3. This smartphone finds its position in the budget market where the biggest names that dominate the market include the Realme Narzo 20, Redmi 9 Prime, and Motorola Moto G9 among others. These are some highly qualified smartphones for this price, which makes it difficult for Nokia 2.4 to attract customers. But the smartphone is counting on the pure Android experience it brings along.
HMD Global has reiterated that it wants customers to enjoy the pure Android experience that the Nokia smartphones have under the Android One programme. This also means that the Android software on these smartphones will see timely updates for both security patches and firmware. HMD Global wants to sell Android experience over the specifications -- something that its rivals emphasise on when launching their products. But this does not mean the Nokia smartphones do not measure up when it comes to specifications.

Nokia 2.4 specifications
For its specifications, the Nokia 2.4 has innards that are on par with its competitors. Some of the biggest selling points for the Nokia 2.4 are the big display and promise for regular Android firmware and security updates.
The Nokia 2.4 comes with a 6.5-inch 720p display with a waterdrop-style notch at the top. This screen has an aspect ratio of 20:9. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 processor paired with up to 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, which is expandable up to 512GB via a microSD card. The smartphone runs on Android 10 out of the box but can be upgraded to Android 11.
Realme Narzo 20A uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor while the Redmi 9 Prime runs a MediaTek Helio G80 processor. The Helio P22 processor is usually found on entry-level devices such as Realme C2 that launched last year. I am not sure how fast the Nokia 2.4 is going to be over its competitors but it will be capable of handling most tasks.
For its cameras, the Nokia 2.4 has dual cameras on the rear comprising a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor, accompanied by an LED flash. The smartphone comes with several features, including AI Portrait mode. There is a 5-megapixel camera for selfies housed inside the notch. The Nokia 2.4 is fuelled by a 4,500mAh battery that uses the Micro-USB port, placed at the bottom, for charging. It also has a 3.5mm audio jack, among other connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 4G VoLTE. The smartphone weighs 189g and measures at 165.87x76.30x8.69mm.
Commenting on the launch, Sanmeet Kochhar, vice president at HMD Global, said, "The 2-series is a fan favourite and the most successful series in India. It brings much loved features such as two-day battery life, an AI-powered camera and pure, secure and up-to-date Android, all in an affordable and elegant package. The Nokia 2.4 continues to exceed expectations when it comes to what a phone within this segment can provide. We've included high-end features like the AI camera with Night mode and Portrait mode. The large screen makes for a more immersive visual experience, and for added security, a biometric fingerprint sensor is included, which is a first for the series. All of this wrapped up in a timeless Finnish design that's reflected in the Nokia 2.4 colour palette."
