Nokia 8 Sirocco is finally receiving the Android 10 update after some of its junior siblings tasted the new software over the past few days. In a tweet, HMD Global's hardware chief Juho Sarvikas announced the Android 10 is now rolling out to Nokia 8 Sirocco in a phased manner. The update also brings the Android Security patch for April 2020 on the smartphone. The Nokia 8 Sirocco was launched back in April 2018 with a price tag of Rs 49,999 in India. It comes with the Snapdragon 835 SoC, a QHD display, and ZEISS cameras at the back.
Nokia 8 Sirocco Android 10 Update
The Android 10 update, as we mentioned, is rolling out in stages. This is similar to how HMD Global pushed the Android 10 update to its other phones, such as the Nokia 3.2, Nokia 4.2, and more. The rollout is now available to the first wave of countries, which includes Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Macau, Mongolia, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, and Ukraine.
Only the 10 per cent of handsets in the aforementioned countries are getting the update, while 50 per cent of the units will receive it by April 18. The complete rollout encompassing 100 per cent units in the first-wave countries will take place by April 10. The wave 2 rollout will be announced by the company in later posts on its community forum.
To update, the user needs to visit the Software Update settings on the Nokia 8 Sirocco and check for the updates. If the device is eligible, there will be a software version V5.120 with a 1.38GB file size. The user should download and install the update to access Android 10 features, such as dark mode, smart reply, and improved gesture navigation among others on the Nokia 8 Sirocco.
Specifications wise, the Nokia 8 Sirocco has a 5.5-inch QHD pOLED display with Always-on feature. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage without expandability. It has a dual-camera setup comprising a 12-megapixel main sensor and a 13-megapixel optical zoom sensor. The cameras are facilitated by ZEISS Optics. There is a 5-megapixel camera on the front of the smartphone. The Nokia 8 Sirocco is backed by a 3260mAh battery under the hood.
