HMD Global has scheduled an event in China for tomorrow, August 4, to unveil a new smartphone. In a teaser, the company has shared only a fraction of the upcoming smartphone's image that shows a button and a thick bezel. Rumours are rife this smartphone could be the TA-1258 model number, which is most likely the Nokia C3, according to TENAA and Geekbench listings. The smartphone was spotted with an HD+ display, a Unisoc processor, and Android 10 among other entry-level specifications.
According to a Weibo post, translated and posted by Nokiamob.net, HMD Global is scheduling the event to take place at 10 am Beijing time (7.30 am IST) on August 4. The button of the smartphone shown in the image is aqua coloured and could be dedicated to trigger Google Assistant. Other Nokia smartphones have a Google Assistant button on them, as well. But the teaser does not tell what smartphone that is. If we go by the speculations then it could be the Nokia C3, the successor to the Nokia C2.
The model number TA-1258 has been spotted on TENAA with its specifications. Later, Nokia C3 was spotted on Geekbench with the same specifications as those of TA-1258, which is why it is safe to assume TA-1258 is Nokia C3. The specifications include a 5.99-inch HD+ screen, a Unisoc SC9863 processor, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and a 3040mAh battery. The smartphone is also expected to come with an 8-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel secondary camera. It was also leaked that the smartphone could have a 2GB/32GB RAM variant, as well. The Nokia C3 will run Android 10 but if it will be the Go edition is not something clear at the moment.
The TENAA listing has also revealed the full look of the TA-1258 model. It will come in Nordic Blue and Gold Sand colour and the renders show the latter. There is a fingerprint sensor at the back in the middle, going by these renders. Since the display is not turned on, it is difficult to tell if it has a punch-hole or a notch for the front camera.
The Nokia C3 is the successor to the Nokia C2, which is also an entry-level smartphone launched back in March. The Nokia C2 has a 5.7-inch HD+ display, dual cameras, and a Unisoc processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The Nokia C2 sports a 5-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It is backed by a 2800mAh battery and runs Android 9 Pie (Go edition). The Nokia C3 is also likely to launch with nearly the same specifications, however, there will be a few certain bumps.
