- OnePlus 9E is likely to be the cheapest in the OnePlus 9 series.
- OnePlus 9E could be priced in a way that it falls between the cheaper OnePlus Nord and the upcoming OnePlus 9.
- It is likely to come with a 90Hz display.
OnePlus 9E is expected to be the third smartphone in the upcoming OnePlus 9 series, and case maker Spigen has dropped the latest hint. There have been several reports in the past few weeks where there has been some confusion about the name of the third smartphone in the OnePlus 9 series. However, the listing on the Spigen website seemingly confirms the existence and branding.
OnePlus 9 series is one of the much-anticipated smartphones expected to launch in the first half of 2021. The company has already confirmed an announcement for March 8 where it could reveal the launch date for the upcoming OnePlus 9 series. OnePlus may take Apple's lead to launch three models under its upcoming OnePlus 9 series - OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro and the third, which is said to be launched as OnePlus 9E (or OnePlus 9R).
The latest leak comes from the Spigen website that listed three new phones under the OnePlus 9 series - OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro and OnePlus 9E. At the moment, it is not clear whether the listing by the case maker is based on rumours or is a listing that has gone public before the actual launch of the new OnePlus phones.
Talking about the third smartphone's name, several reports claimed it to launch as the OnePlus 9R, while some hinted at the OnePlus 9E branding. Interestingly, the Spigen page is still live, listing the unannounced OnePlus 9E. Mysmartprice first spotted the listing.
Notably, this will be the first time that OnePlus will be launching three phones under its flagship range. So far, we used to see only two phones launching at a time. Last year, the company launched the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. Later, the company announced the OnePlus Nord and towards the end of the year, it launched the OnePlus 8T.
OnePlus 9E: What we know so far
Talking about the OnePlus 9E, several leaks have hinted towards a mid-range device and hints that it might be the cheapest among the three. It is said to come with a 90Hz display and sport a 6.5-inch display, which means it will be slightly larger than the OnePlus Nord smartphone. It is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 processor coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage. The smartphone is said to come with a 64-megapixel primary sensor, however, there's not much info around the cameras at this point.
We can expect OnePlus to share more details around the new OnePlus 9 series during the March 8 "Moonshot" announcement that the company teased earlier this week. Going by the leaks so far, the OnePlus 9 Pro is likely to see a big camera upgrade this year which could put it next to iPhone 12 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S21 series.
