China landed its first spacecraft, Tainwen-1 on Mars, becoming the third space-faring nation with the achievement. Now, Oppo, one of the biggest tech giants in China, is celebrating the milestone in its own unique way. The Chinese company has announced a Mars Exploration Edition of the Find X3 Pro, the most premium handset in the company's kitty. The Oppo Find X3 Pro Mars Exploration Edition brings some design changes that embellish the phone with references from China's Mars exploration.
The back of the Oppo Find X3 Pro has the inscriptions, Mars 2021 and Utopia Planitia, which is the landing site of the Tainwen-1 rover on Mars. There is a new grey paint available for this special edition variant and it is supposed to represent outer space -- although I think a deep black colour would have been more relevant. And with this new variant, the Find X3 Pro now has a total of four variants. The previously launched ones are Black, White, Gloss Black, and Cosmic Mocha. Not just the phone, Oppo has also redesigned the retail box of the Find X3 Pro to show off the red planet.
The Oppo Find X3 Pro Mars Exploration Edition also has a new theme to commemorate the event. You get a new dynamic Mars wallpaper that keeps changing the planet's visible side and colours as the day passes, along with various other elements that match the colour scheme. Besides, the Find X3 Pro has three new colour filters in the camera app and each of them will make the photos look as if they were taken on Mars.
This new edition costs the same as the regular variant of the Oppo Find X3 Pro. It is now available to purchase for CNY 6,999 in China only.
Specifications-wise, the Oppo Find X3 Pro Mars Exploration Edition is the same as the vanilla variant. The Oppo Find X3 Pro has a 6.7-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz. The smartphone supports 1 billion colours on the display, along with the new 10-bit colour management system that works with the camera and the storage, as well. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. There is, however, no support for a microSD card. The phone runs Android 11-based ColorOS 11.1. For photography, the Find X3 Pro has a 64-megapixel camera setup with a microscopic lens in the array. There is a 4500mAh battery inside with 65W wired and 30W wireless charging support.
