Highlights

  • Oppo Find X3 Pro will have a 3MP macro camera with 25x zoom.
  • The smartphone will come with a 50MP Sony sensor in the main camera.
  • The Oppo Find X3 series will have Neo and Lite variants.

Oppo Find X3 Pro, the next flagship from the Chinese company that will go against the Galaxy S21 Ultra and maybe the OnePlus 9, will be a significant leap in mobile photography. While Oppo is yet to show off this achievement -- which I think will happen only on the day of launch, the latest renders showing the insides of the camera system on Find X3 Pro give a strong hint the improvements in phone cameras will be worthwhile. It is not surprising to know the Find X3 Pro will appeal to mobile photographers because it is Oppo we are talking about. Oppo has been one of the leading tech brands when it comes to innovation in mobile photography and Find X3 Pro will just be another testimony.

Renowned tipster Evan Blass has shared some live images of the Find X3 Pro that give, by far, the clearest look at the cameras of the phone. But tagging along these renders is the camera design that breaks down how well the camera system on the Find X3 Pro is going to work. The camera system on the Find X3 Pro is full of crucial components that will enhance photography. Blass has said (via Voice), Oppo calls this module the "crater" design internally, hoping there will be a "significant technical achievement". The main camera will be a 50MP Sony IMX766 flagship sensor on which Oppo closely worked with Sony, alongside an ultrawide camera. But the biggest attraction will be the flash-ringed 3MP macro lens.

Oppo Find X3 Pro will improve macro photography to a level that is currently rare in smartphones. Blass has said the macro lens will offer 25x zoom levels, making it an on-device microscope. If you are not interested in photography, this might not matter to you much because all the photography you are going to do is using the main camera. But if you are adventurous or like to experiment with cameras, the 25x zoom is phenomenal. Macro photography on phones is maturing slowly, even though it is still a fancy thing to have on phones to flaunt with less utility. Oppo's stout efforts towards bringing highly capable cameras are appreciable, even though it would not help many because of the niche interests. There will also be a 13MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom that is the same as the one on the Find X2 Pro.

Further, Blass has said the Oppo Find X3 lineup will consist of a Find X3 Neo and a Find X3 Lite, much like how the Find X2 series had it. Rumours suggest these two phones will be rebranded versions of two smartphones from the Reno 5 series that are available in China. Oppo has not said anything if it will launch these variants but there is a good chance these phones will exist.

Previously, Oppo confirmed the Find X3 Pro will come with the 10-bit colour format for its hardware components, retaining DCI-P3 colour gamut in the transfer. The smartphone's camera, storage, and display components will retain the colour throughout the data transfer process. The smartphone is also said to come with a 6.7-inch curved OLED display with a 1440x3216-pixel resolution. The display will support 120Hz adaptive refresh rate as well. The smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset coupled with 12GB of RAM. The phone will have a 4500mAh battery inside with 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging technology for wired charging and 30W VOOC Air wireless charging. The smartphone will be available in black, white, and blue colourways.
