- Oppo might be working on a Reno 4 SE with a 90Hz OLED screen.
- The Reno 4 SE is said to be powered by a Dimensity 800 chipset.
- A report has claimed the Reno 4 SE could cost around Rs 28,000.
Oppo Reno 4 series launched a few weeks back in India while its F17 series debuted just last week. Normally, Oppo reserves some models under these series to launch later with toned down specifications. An Oppo smartphone has cropped up on China's TENAA listing with a design similar to that of F17 Pro but the rumour mill believes it is going to be a part of the Reno 4 series. A new report has termed the device Reno 4 SE and it might borrow several features from Reno 4 Pro.
A report on Weibo has claimed the device is a special edition of the Reno 4, thus called Reno 4 SE. Its specifications, sourced from the TENAA listing, include a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED display with a cutout for the selfie camera. It could also have a 90Hz refresh rate. The report says the device will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 800 chipset, which means there is going to support for 5G connectivity. There could be 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.
The front camera is likely a 32-megapixel snapper while the rear is going to have three cameras: a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor, an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera also with a macro sensor, and a 2-megapixel depth-sensing camera. The design of the rear camera is akin to that on the F17 Pro but instead of the fourth camera, there is an LED flash in the fourth circle. Removal of a camera from the Reno 4 Pro is what Reno 4 SE will offer, rightly so because it is going to be a stripped-down model. The chipset is less powerful than the Snapdragon 765G on the Reno 4 Pro.
Another big feature that is going to descend down from Reno 4 Pro to the Reno 4 SE is the 65W fast charging. It was last week when we saw this feature trickling down to the under Rs 20,000 segment with the Realme 7 Pro. It is possible Oppo is mimicking that with the Reno 4 SE in the Chinese market for now, at least. The Reno 4 SE is said to pack a 4300mAh battery.
Oppo is also taking care of the dimensions that the report says include 7.85mm thickness. It is slightly more than the thickness of F17 Pro, which Oppo touted as the sleekest phone of 2020. The weight of the Reno 4 SE is said to be 169 grams, which is reasonably low and can offer increase portability.
The Weibo report has tipped the Reno 4 SE will cost CNY 2,599, which is roughly Rs 28,000. I am not sure I that price is exclusive or there are going to be more than one variant of the Reno 4 SE. Anyhow, we will know more soon since its launch seems to be imminent.
