- Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ will come in two colourways according to teaser.
Oppo launched the Reno 5 and Reno 5 Pro smartphones in China on Thursday, but the Reno 5 Pro+ missed out on the launch event. This does not mean the top model in the Reno 5 series is not coming. Oppo has announced that the Reno 5 Pro+ will be launched in China on December 24. Not only the launch date but the Chinese company also gave the first glimpse of the smartphone, showing off a pleasant design with the "Reno Glow" branding.
According to the teaser that Oppo has shared, the Reno 5 Pro+ will come in two colour variants, one is grey in colour with the company's star drilling technique that imparts the Reno 5 series its design on the back. The other colourway is a combination of two shades, green and blue, in a design that reflects light from each nanoparticle that causes the phone's back to show a twinkling effect. The teaser does not show any other colour variant, which should probably mean that there will not be a third colourway for the Reno 5 Pro+.
The Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ photo does not reveal specifications, but the rumour mill has nearly everything there is to get an idea of what this beefiest smartphone in the series is going to be. The Reno 5 Pro+ could come powered by the top-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, along with a curved display made of AMOLED material. The size of this display is going to be 6.55-inches while the resolution of the screen could be 1080x2400 pixels. This display will also come with a punch-hole setup on the top left corner. Finally, rumours suggest this display will have up to 90Hz refresh rate.
In terms of photography, the Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ is said to come with a 50MP Sony IMX766 processor as the main snapper. If this rumour holds true, the Reno 5 Pro+ is going to be the first smartphone with the 50MP camera. So far no smartphone brand has launched a phone with 50MP camera but Oppo might become the first with the Reno 5 Pro+. The rear camera system is also expected to come with a 16MP ultrawide camera and a 13MP telephoto camera. A 2MP camera is also said to come with a macro lens. The specifications of the front camera that will reside inside the punch-hole cutout are not clear at the moment. Finally, the Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ is rumoured to come with a 4500mAh battery with the company's 65W SuperVOOC fast charging technology.
Oppo launched the Reno 5 and Reno 5 Pro with support for 5G connectivity, AMOLED screens, 64MP quad-camera setups, 4200mAh batteries with 65W fast charging technology, and features such as Dolby Audio. The only major difference between the Reno 5 and Reno 5 Pro is the processor. The Oppo Reno 5 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor while the Reno 5 Pro rocks an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chipset. The Oppo Reno 5 series phones come with a special design on the camera module that glows in the dark. The company has also launched the New Year Edition models for the Reno 5 Pro in China.
