- Oppo Reno Ace 2 5G to launch later this month.
- The smartphone will come with Snapdragon 865 SoC.
- It will also have 40W wireless fast charging.
Oppo Reno Ace 2 5G will be launched on April 13. In a Weibo post, Oppo vice president and president of global marketing, Brian Shen announced the launch date of the Reno Ace 2 5G that has been headlining the rumour mill for quite some time. It has been rumoured to come with some top-of-the-line specifications, including the 40W wireless fast charging, in addition to the 65W wired fast charging that is also available on the predecessor Reno Ace. The highlight, of course, will be the 5G support on the Reno Ace 2 5G but that could be limited to the Chinese market for now. The Reno Ace 2 5G will be launched in China initially.
In the post, Shen, however, did not mention the word 'Reno' anywhere and left it at just 'Oppo Ace2'. It is possible that 'Reno' could be dropped from the smartphone's speculated name. If this is anything to go by, 'Ace' could emerge as an independent series that will, maybe, sit between the Reno and Find series. It seems possible too, given the specifications the Reno Ace 2 is reported to come. Not only it will have one of the best wireless charging speeds, but it also will be a Snapdragon 865-powered phone. The Find X2 phones are the only premium phones that rock the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor.
Recently, a TENAA listing of the Oppo Reno Ace 2 5G, bearing the model PDHM00, revealed the key specifications, including the Snapdragon 865 processor that will be integrated with the X55 modem. There will be two RAM and storage options on the Reno Ace 2 5G - 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB - along with support for microSD card. The Oppo Reno Ace 2 5G will come with a 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a punch-hole design and an in-display fingerprint sensor. At the back, the Oppo Reno Ace 2 5G will pack a combination of a 48-megapixel sensor, an 8-megapixel sensor, and two 2-megapixel sensors. For selfies, there will be a 16-megapixel sensor on the front inside the punch-hole.
The future of Reno phones in China and elsewhere is getting confusing by the day. On one hand, the company is preparing to launch new Reno models in China and, on the other hand, the same Reno models are tweaked for international launch under the same name. Now, some reports recently said that two smartphones from the Reno series available in China, Reno 3 Pro 5G and Reno 3 Youth, will be rebranded to Find X2 Neo and Find X2 Lite for the international markets. Another leak suggested that Oppo is getting ready to launch the Reno 3 Pro 5G globally with the same name but with the specifications dissimilar to the version available in China. Interestingly, the non-5G version of Reno 3 Pro was launched sometime back in India with the same name as well. Oppo should really think about how it is going about the nomenclature to avoid the confusion.
