Phone maker Poco has buzzed past the competition to become the third biggest smartphone maker in the country. This information comes courtesy of market analysis firm, Counterpoint, which claims Poco which only became an independent brand in 2020 is now a bigger brand than OnePlus and Realme in the country.
Counterpoint claims that for the month of November, Poco managed to outperform the competition and only fell behind its parent company, Xiaomi, and South Korean tech giant, Samsung.
Its growth is being said to be based on budget devices such as the Poco C3 and the Poco M2 -- both devices that dominated the affordable end of the smartphone market at different times in the year. As per Poco, the performance of the two phones was such that it managed to sell over one million phone units within the first week of the Flipkart Big Billion Day sale that took place in November 2020.
Apart from these, Poco was helped by the performance of the Poco X3 in the sub Rs 20,000 segment of the phone market. The phone was launched last year as an aggressive package with powerful specs but an affordable price tag,
However, of the devices mentioned above, it is the Poco C3 that has been a major hit with buyers. Available in two variants in India, the Poco C3 is now being sold in India at a discounted price to celebrate the achievement. The entry variant comes with 3GB RAM+ 32GB storage. This variant has been priced at Rs 6,999. The higher-end variant gets 4GB RAM paired to 64GB storage and has been announced to retail for Rs 7,999. Both the variants are available in three colours -- Arctic Blue, Lime Green, and Matte Black.
Being a budget segment device, the Poco C3 comes with a modest spec sheet. Under the hood, the new device from Poco comes powered by the Helio G35 SoC paired with up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of storage which can be expanded by up to 512GB.
On the outside, the phone comes with a 6.53-inch HD+ display with a water-drop style notch with a 20:9 aspect ratio. For photos, the Poco C3 gets a triple camera set-up with a 13-megapixel primary lens, a 5-megapixel secondary ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. There's also a 5-megapixel selfie camera on the front.
