- Poco is likely to launch smartphone with new Qualcomm chip.
- Twitter users believe new phone can be Poco F2.
- Poco F2 will succeed 2018's Poco F1.
When is the Poco F2 coming has been the most asked question among the smartphone enthusiasts. Even more than two years after the launch of Poco F1, there is no official word on its successor. However, we might be closer to a launch than before. The company has announced that it has partnered with Qualcomm to bring a new Poco phone. Even though it didn't reveal the name or details of the phone, Twitter users believe that this can finally be the Poco F2 they have been waiting for.
Poco's Country Director Anuj Sharma shared a video from his Twitter account where he is talking to the Qualcomm team. In the video, the two spokesperson hint at an upcoming collaboration.
"So last evening, a simple call from @qualcomm_in to wish POCO on our 1st Birthday took an interesting turn. The team at Qualcomm has promised us something special and very exciting in a few weeks. What could it be? What do you think?" Anuj tweet with the video.
As expected, the responses were filled with predictions around the Poco F2. Some users believe that it can be the first smartphone to come with Qualcomm's newly announced Snapdragon 870 platform which is an upgrade on last year's 865 series. While others said that the smartphone can be powered by Qualcomm-7 series chipsets.
To recall, Qualcomm had recently announced the Snapdragon 870 chipset for smartphone companies that are not willing to spend big on Snapdragon 888 chip but still want to provide flagship-level experience to their users. The chipset is also 5G ready. "With 5G and Wi-Fi 6 capabilities, you'll experience high speeds, increased capacity, and widespread accessibility no matter where you connect with 5G, the chipmaker claims.
Last month, company had hinted that they will be launching the phone with a powerful chip. A leak claimed that Poco might ship the F2 smartphone with the mid-range Snapdragon 732G processor. This was dismissed by Anuj in a AMA session. While answering some questions, Country Director Poco India said, "Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G would not drive the Poco F2".
The Poco F1 was launched in India back in August 2018 at a starting price of Rs 20,999. It packed Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with LiquidCool tech. The smartphone featured a 6.18-inch display and sport a dual-camera setup at the back. It came with a 4000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support out of the box.
