Realme is finally bringing what it promised its fans, a 5G smartphone in the latest 8 series. Realme 8 5G series is set to arrive on April 21. The company has put out a video teaser and a couple of posters for the 8 5G but hold on. This launch will be in Thailand, which means we are not sure about the India launch yet. A date for the India launch is not available, but it is imminent and may as well take place right after the Realme 8 5G arrives in Thailand. The Realme 8 5G series will be a huge upgrade over the existing models as it will bring 5G support.

There have been rumours that Realme will revamp both Realme 8 and Realme 8 Pro to add 5G to them. One of the posters confirms that. There are going to be two phones in the series, the 8 5G and the 8 Pro 5G. But in retrospect, the Realme 8 5G appeared on multiple certification and benchmarking platforms while the 8 Pro 5G has been speculation. The posters and the video teaser also give a good first glimpse at what the Realme 8 5G will look like. The phone has a subtle design, unlike the shiny "Dare to Leap" theme on the regular Realme 8.

The Realme 8 5G seems to have three cameras on the back, including a 48-megapixel main sensor. The 4G version has four cameras and one of them is a 64-megapixel shooter, so clearly there is a huge difference between the two handsets. In fact, some believe that the Realme 8 5G is a rebranded V13 5G. Realme's V-series is exclusive to China but the company is not shy of rebadging phones and launching them in different markets. The Realme V13 5G arrived in China recently as one of the cheapest 5G phones in the market.

What else? The Realme 8 5G will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor, which is a low-cost chipset to bring 5G at affordable prices. The phone will have a 5000mAh battery and although there is no confirmation on fast charging availability, there is going to be some. And finally, the Realme 8 5G will feature a 90Hz display. It is likely going to be an LCD since Realme V13 5G has the same specifications. If you compare the Realme 8 5G with the regular 4G counterpart, you will notice huge differences between the two phones. It is like the Realme 8 5G and the Realme 8 4G are not even related.

Anyway, Realme is going ahead with the launch of the phone in Thailand on April 21, but an India launch date is still a mystery. Let us hope the date comes out in the coming days.
