Highlights

  • Realme C12 now has a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant.
  • It costs a little higher than what the 3GB RAM version costs.
  • The rest of the specifications of Realme C12 have not changed.

Realme C12 has a new memory variant in India. The C-series smartphone that was launched in India last year now comes in a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. This means people who wanted the C12 to perform heavier tasks and have ample memory to handle them can now go for this variant. Last year, Realme launched only the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage model that may be capable enough for some users but there were still many buyers who wanted to buy the C12 but the lack of a higher memory configuration held them back.

The new Realme C12 goes big on RAM and storage, blurring the lines between the C-series and Narzo series further. And apart from the upgrades in memory, there is nothing else that has changed on the Realme C12. Which means the display, the processor, the battery, and the cameras are all going to be the same on this new model as the lower memory version. But yes, with more RAM, you will see significant improvements in the performance of the phone. In my review, I had mentioned the processor is good enough for entry-level tasks that you come to expect from the phone, so it is some respite.

Let us talk about the price of the new variant first and then the specifications of the Realme C12.

Realme C12 price

Realme C12 4GB RAM, 64GB storage variant will cost you Rs 9,999. It is available to buy from Flipkart and the Realme online store today but if you wait for one day, you will be able to buy the new memory variant of Realme C12 from all mainline stores across India. Realme has not detailed any individual offers for the smartphone but Flipkart is running its sale where you can avail bank offers.

Realme C12 specifications

The Realme C12 borrows its specifications from the C11 and the C15 and combines them into one smartphone. The entry-level MediaTek Helio G35 processor is claimed to be a gaming-centric processor but my experience with the device suggests otherwise. The processor struggled to handle multiple apps at once, so playing games such as Garena Free Fire is out of the question. Although, you can still play light games such as Temple Run and Candy Crush Saga. There are two configurations now - 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage - both of which are expandable via microSD card up to 256GB.

There is a 6.5-inch 720p IPS LCD display with a waterdrop notch on top. The notch houses a 5-megapixel camera, which is a major downgrade from the 8-megapixel sensor on the Realme C15. On the back, the Realme C12 has three cameras, unlike two on the C11 and four on the C15. There is a combination of a 13-megapixel main shooter and 2-megapixel auxiliary sensors, assisted by an LED flash. The cameras are fixed in the same squarish island design as the one Realme C11 debuted with. It seems Realme is now going to keep this design for a while for its budget and mid-range smartphones.

The Realme C12 is backed by a 6000mAh battery. It is the same as the one on the Realme C15, however, it lacks fast charging support. The battery charges at up to 10W from the bundled charger, unlike the Realme C15 battery that has up to 18W charging speed support. But it borrows the reverse charging feature from the Realme C15, which means it can charge other smartphones using the MicroUSB port at the bottom.
