- Realme GT 5G flagship is coming to global markets in June.
- A camera-centric flagship phone under GT brand will arrive in July.
- The exact launch date of the Realme GT 5G is not clear.
Realme will be launching its GT 5G flagship phone globally in June, the company said at the global 5G summit. The Realme GT 5G arrived back in March in China with the mighty Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, which goes up against the likes of the OnePlus 9 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S21, and the Xiaomi Mi 11. A GT-branded camera-focused flagship, however, is coming in July. Realme India and Europe boss Madhav Sheth said that the company is planning to launch as many as 20 5G phones by 2022. That is not a long shot if you check the track record of the company. Realme is among the phone brands that are launching 5G phones across price ranges, left, right, and centre.
The global launch probably pertains to the launch in Europe. But since it is the entire June that Realme has confirmed, the India launch may take place sometime this month. A date for either is not clear, however. Realme usually begins teasing the launch days ahead of the event, so it is a matter of time before that happens for the Realme GT 5G, as well. Realme launched the GT 5G flagship in China for CNY 2,799, which is roughly Rs 32,000. A recent tip suggested the Realme GT 5G will cost EUR 400 in Europe. It is roughly Rs 35,600. This gives us the ballpark of the Indian price of the GT 5G.
Realme is also planning to launch a flagship camera smartphone sometime in July. Now, this "camera flagship" slogan was previously associated with the GT Neo, but this phone arrived in India as the Realme X7 Max 5G last month. As such, there is no point in launching a GT Neo outside of China. The flagship camera phone the company is referring to here may be a new phone that has not been launched anywhere yet. A recent tip from tipster Mukul Sharma suggested there is a Realme GT 2 in the making, so maybe that is our flagship camera phone. Anyway, we will definitely find out more in the coming weeks about what this phone is going to be.
As far as the specifications of the Realme GT 5G are concerned, the flagship phone uses an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. It has a 6.43-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. The display has an integrated fingerprint sensor. The phone has up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, along with support for a microSD card. The phone comes with a 4500mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging through a USB-C port. The Realme GT 5G sports a 64-megapixel sensor, an 8-megapixel and a 2-megapixel sensor on the back. For selfies, it has a 16-megapixel camera inside the punch-hole in the top left corner. The phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack and is only 8.4mm thick. The Realme GT 5G weighs 186 grams.
