- Realme Q2 model number RMX2117 has been spotted on BIS website.
- This means that Realme will launch this phone in India soon.
- But it is not certain if it will be called Q2 or something else.
Realme is going to have a busy 2021, at least that is what the year's beginning is shaping up to be. The Oppo offshoot confirmed it will launch the X7 series early next year. Then, some rumours pointed out that the Realme 8 and Narzo 30 series might also debut in January. And now, Realme may be preparing for the launch of a new series in India. According to the listing on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website, Realme is bringing the Realme Q2 smartphone to India.
Per tipster Mukul Sharma, Realme has got the model number RMX2117 certified by the Indian regulator. This model number belongs to Realme Q2 that was launched in China back in October alongside the Q2 Pro. But the tipster does not say about what this smartphone is going to be called in India. The Realme Q (first-generation) was a rebranded Realme 5 for China, so technically Realme Q2 should be Realme 6.
However, the Indian market has its own Realme 6 that launched in March earlier this year. As such, it becomes tricky to figure out what Realme has in store. The best feasible option is launching a new series in India because then it can continue launching successors in this series for both Indian and Chinese markets without having to think of renaming them. Whatever the case may be, Realme might bring this device soon to the Indian market and we will know the official name.
Realme Q2 specifications
Realme Q2 brings the same design as the Realme 7 series, where there is a rectangular camera design on the back. The smartphone also has a glossy finish on the polycarbonate body. The smartphone comes with a 6.5-inch 1080p display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, along with support for microSD card of up to 256GB. The smartphone runs Android 10-based Realme UI but it should be upgradeable to Android 11 as and when it arrives in India. This is a 5G smartphone.
For photography, the Realme Q2 sports a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide-angle sensor with a 119-degree field of view, and a 2MP macro lens on the back. The selfies on the smartphone are handled by the 16MP camera on the Realme Q2. The fingerprint sensor on the device is integrated into the power button on the side. Fuelling the Realme Q2 is a 5000mAh battery that charges at up to 30W with the help of the bundled charger. It measures 162.2x75.1x9.1mm and weighs 194 grams. And the connectivity options on the smartphone include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C port, and GPS among others.
Realme Q2 price
In China, the Realme Q2 is priced at CNY 1,299 for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. This translates to approximately Rs 14,000 in India, which is about the same price as the Realme 7 right now. If this smartphone comes to India, it will be interesting to see what price bracket it will belong to. And if I were to make a wild guess, it could be one of the Realme Narzo 30 series smartphones that are rumoured to arrive around the same timeline.
