  • Realme also launched the X3 to its X-series in India.
  • The Realme X3 series starts at Rs 24,999 in India.

Realme X3 SuperZoom is the company's latest smartphone that joins the X-series in India. It made its debut last month in Europe, along with other products by Realme that are already available in India. The unique selling point of the Realme X3 SuperZoom is its periscope camera that is claimed to offer an optical zoom of 5X and a digital zoom of 60X, making it one of the few smartphones in India with such capabilities. Realme is also touting a Starry Mode on the X3 SuperZoom -- something that we have seen before on Google Pixel 4 and Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphones.

The Chinese company has also launched a toned-down version called the Realme X3, which lacks the periscope zoom capabilities and comes with a telephoto sensor, instead.

The Realme X3, on the other hand, has 6GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB storage variants, priced at Rs 24,999 and Rs 25,999, respectively. The smartphone also comes in Arctic White. It will go on sale starting June 30 on Flipkart and realme.com. The pre-orders for the X3 start Thursday, June 25.

Realme X3 SuperZoom, X3: What you get

The Realme X3 SuperZoom and X3 are very much alike in terms of their specifications except for the storage configurations and the cameras. Unlike the other smartphones of Realme, the X3 SuperZoom brings an 8-megapixel periscope camera to the setup at the back that also has a 64-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. The periscope camera is claimed to offer a 5X optical zoom and 60x digital zoom, which could be useful when you are capturing a shot from afar. The main sensor will also handle the Starry Mode in tandem with the periscope camera.

For selfies, the Realme X3 SuperZoom has a combination of 32-megapixel Sony sensor and an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor. I am yet to test the zoom capabilities of the X3 SuperZoom, so I will reserve my thoughts on it for now.

There is a 6.6-inch FHD+ (1080x2400 pixels) LCD display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and has an aspect ratio of 90.5 per cent. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ SoC with eight cores clocked at up to 2.96GHz paired with Adreno 640.

It is a strange yet practical choice for the processor on a smartphone that belongs to Realme's flagship-level smartphone series. Since the company already provides the X50 Pro with Snapdragon 865 SoC, it X3 SuperZoom justifies the pricing with only a little less powerful processor. The smartphone has a fingerprint sensor on the power button and it is backed by a 4200mAh battery with 30W Dart Flash Charge technology.

The Realme X3 borrows most of X3 SuperZoom's specifications, except for the cameras. Instead of the 8-megapixel periscope camera, the Realme X3 has a 12-megapixel telephoto sensor that will offer zoom capabilities with little less efficiency comparatively. It even retains the Starry Mode on the 64-megapixel main sensor. In the front-camera department, the Realme X3 has a 16-megapixel Sony wide-angle camera along with an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor.

Besides, both X3 SuperZoom and X3 have support for Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res audio, Bluetooth v5.0, and Android 10-based Realme UI.
