Xiaomi's Redmi has been among the busiest players in the smartphone market lately. Over the last few weeks, the company has launched a number of products, and today it is all set to add to the list by announcing two new devices at a virtual launch event it will be hosting later in the day. For those interested, the event will be live-streamed in the country via the company's YouTube and other social media handles.
The company has already teased that it will be introducing the all-new Redmi 9A to the Indian market on September 2 at 12pm local time via a virtual launch event. Information about this and even the device's first sale has been made available on a landing page on Amazon India which reveals the device will be available for purchase starting September 4.
Interestingly, this will be the third Redmi 9 phone to launch in India after the Redmi 9 Prime and Redmi 9 -- all within the period of a few weeks. Additionally, the company is also expected to launch a pair of wired in-ear earphones that it had teased via a cryptic tweet.
Talking about the phone, the Redmi 9A is expected to be made available in multiple variants in India, and if reports are to be believed, the Redmi 9A could come in 4GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB variants, which will be available in Nature Green, Sea Blue, and Midnight Black colour options.
Redmi 9A: Specifications
In terms of the specifications, the Redmi 9A is expected to be very much in line with the device that has been already launched in Malaysia earlier. As a rebrand of the device, it is expected to feature similar specifications and features.
As such, the Redmi 9A in India is expected to feature a 6.53-inch HD+ (720x1,600 pixels) display with a water-drop notch and 20:9 aspect ratio. Underneath, the phone is expected to feature an octa-core MediaTek Helio G25 SoC. This will be paired with 4GB of RAM and as much as 128GB of storage. The smartphone is also likely to run on MIUI 12, based on Android 10 out-of-the-box.
Other specs of the phone could also be a little on the modest side. In terms of the cameras, the Redmi 9A could come with a single 13-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.2 lens. There's could also be a 5-megapixel selfie camera sensor at the front, with an f/2.2 lens. Apart from this, the phone could pack a 5,000mAh battery with 10W fast charging support.
