Xiaomi had launched the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition in China earlier this week. We are already hearing that it may introduce the phone in India but, under a different brand name. Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco have been sharing resources and often re-brand phones for different markets. We recently saw that with the Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro, which were released in India as Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro, respectively. Interestingly, the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition is tipped to launch as the Poco F3 GT in the country.

The possible launch was spotted in the MIUI code of the phone. It was spotted by Xiaomi leaker Kacper Skrzypek, who claimed that Redmi K40 Gaming Edition will be launched as the Poco F3 GT in India. The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition comes with the model number M2104K10C, where the C at the end denotes its release in the Chinese market.

The code within MIUI 12 suggests M2104K10I, where the 'I' at the end denotes a release in the Indian market, will be called the POCO F3 GT.

This comes as an interesting development as Poco had separated from Xiaomi last year and has maintained that it is an independent brand since then. It had launched the Poco X3 Pro and Poco F3 globally last month but, only the first was launched in India. In fact, Poco has launched a F series phone in the country apart from the Poco F1 which marked its debut. However, It has hinted that the next Poco F smartphone will be priced on the higher side.

To recall, the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition is priced at 1,999 yuan (around Rs 22,995) for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant, 2,199 yuan for 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant, 2,399 yuan for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, 2,699 yuan for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant and 2,799 yuan for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant Bruce Lee Special Edition.

It features a 6.67-inch (2400 x 1080 pixels) Full HD+ AMOLED 20:9 HDR10 + display with120Hz refresh rate. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The phone is powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 1200 SoC. The phone features a side mounted fingerprint scanner.

The camera system includes a 64-megapixel primary rear camera, 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera and a 2-megapixel telemacro camera. On the front, you get a 20-megapixel selfie shooter. The phone has an X-axis Linear Motor and packs a 5,065mAh large battery with 67W fast charging that can charge the phone up to 100% in just 42 minutes.
