Xiaomi is set to launch the Redmi K40 series in China today. The series is expected to include two smartphones Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro. The top model is confirmed to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 SoC, making it an affordable option against company's flagship Mi 11 which packs the same chipset. Xiaomi is also claiming that the K40 series will feature world's smallest selfie camera cutout. The other highlights of the series include a 120Hz panel and dual stereo speakers.
Xiaomi is expected to launch more products during the same event. Along with the mentioned smartphones, it can unveil the new RedmiBook Pro laptop and Redmi Max television models.
Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro launch livestream
The Redmi K40 series will be launched on February 25. The online launch event will start at 7:30pm CST (5pm IST). Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro expected price
The Redmi K40 series price will start at CNY 2,999 (around Rs 33,600), Xiaomi has already confirmed. This was also the starting price of the Redmi K30 Pro launched in March 2020. The cost will vary according to variants. The exact price of all variants will be known when after the launch event.
Redmi K40 series features and specifications
Xiaomi has confirmed few specifications of the upcoming series while teased others. The teasers posted on Weibo suggest that the Redmi K40 series will feature E4 AMOLED display developed by Samsung with a refresh rate of 120Hz. This new display is claimed to feature world's smallest selfie camera. It was confirmed by Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing. The company executive also confirmed that the series will be powered by Snapdragon 888 SoC. As per a tipster, the Redmi K40 Pro will include the Snapdragon 888 SoC, while the Redmi K40 will get a Snapdragon 870 SoC.
The smartphones will be equipped with dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos surround sound and 4,520mAh battery. At least one of the smartphone is expected to be launch with a triple rear camera module.
