Telecom giant Reliance Jio is offering a 24-hour grace period to prepaid users even after their prepaid pack gets over. The subscribers can make unlimited Jio-to-Jio calls during the grace period. This initiative was taken by the company to provide some respite to the users who are unable to recharge their phones due to the lockdown. Although many recharge shops have resumed services in orange and green zones, the red zones are yet to witness normalcy.

The grace plan by Jio was first spotted by OnlyTech. It spoke to a user who had received the grace plan. The validity of the grace plan will be reportedly 24 hours and once the grace plan gets over, users will have to recharge their accounts. However, the unlimited calling facility in the grace period will be only applicable to Jio-To-Jio networks. This would be particularly helpful if you have run out of balance and are not in a position to recharge your phone number immediately.

Interestingly, the telecom giants including Vodafone, Airtel, and Jio had announced recently that they would not extend the validity of prepaid packs for low-income workers as the lockdown 3.O has brought some respite to all the cities falling under the orange and green zones.

Meanwhile, Reliance Jio announced a new yearly prepaid plan costing Rs 2399. The plan offers 2GB daily high-speed data. The total data spread comes out to be 730GB for a validity of 365 days, after which the speed is reduced to 64 Kbps. Apart from that data benefits, The plan offers free and unlimited Jio to Jio calling and Jio to non-Jio calling with a FUP limit of 12000 minutes. It offers 100 SMS per day along with a complimentary subscription to Jio apps.

Jio also introduced three add-on plans specifically designed for people who are working from home. The plans are Rs 151, Rs 201 and Rs 251.

The Rs 151 plan offers a total of 30GB data with no daily data limit while the Rs 201 offers 40GB data with no daily data limit. The Rs 251 plan, on the other hand, offers 50GB data with no daily limit.

These plans can be particularly useful if you are working from home and your wifi connection conks off. You can turn your mobile phone into a router and enjoy high-speed data.
