The Galaxy Tab 2 310 is the latest seven-inch tablet from Samsung. The curved edges make it look similar to the Galaxy Tab 620 that we reviewed earlier this year. There is a hot swappable SIM card slot and microSD card slot on the left panel with the power key and volume controls on the right. The proprietary charging port sits at the bottom with speakers on both the sides.
The tablet runs Android Ice-Cream Sandwich, but the interface looks similar to Gingerbread. There aren't many changes, with the Google search icon on the top left and the application launcher tray on the right. Along with the three touchkeys (back, home and multitasking), there is another icon for capturing screenshot. There is another arrow icon that opens a tray where we can add widgets like calculator, world clock, music player, etc.
The main application menu is divided into apps and widgets. While browsing the web and checking emails was convenient, typing wasn't something we were really comfortable with. Also, the video quality was about average and could not even match the experience on the Apple iPad 2, forget about the new iPad. Samsung Tab yet again supports calling, but the form factor is not ideal for use as a phone.
BAG IT OR JUNK IT? At this price point, the competition is from the iPad 2.
