- Samsung and Xiaomi could be working on a phone with 192MP camera
- The phone is said to be powered by a Snapdragon 765G SoC
- More information on the phone will be made available next month
We were recently treated to reports of Xiaomi working on a smartphone with a massive 144-megapixel lens, however, it appears the company could be looking to do one better in the coming days.
As per a new report by leakster Digital Chat Station, a Chinese phone maker -- possibly Xiaomi in partnership with Samsung -- is working on a Snapdragon 765G based smartphone that could have a 192-megapixel primary camera sensor.
While the leakster doesn't reveal any other information about the phone, he does mention that more information will be available next month, while also letting his followers know, "it won't be the phone you expect."
The news comes only a few days after it had emerged that Samsung is already working on a 144-megapixel lens which could first be used on a Xiaomi smartphone -- much like the partnership between the two for the 108-megapixel lens created by Samsung.
As such, it won't come as a surprise if Samsung again is at the forefront of this revolutionary technology, with Xiaomi standing by its side, ready to adopt the 192-megapixel lens on one of its smartphones. However, with no clear indication given, it cannot be said that other Android OEMs will not get this lens, with Vivo and Oppo also likely to benefit from this massive 192-megapixel lens.
But what is most interesting to note is that the lens will not find a place on a phone with flagship internals. Rather, it is said to come with a Snapdragon 765G chip phone, making it abundantly clear that this will be a premium mid-range phone.
Currently, a number of companies have Snapdragon 756 chipset phones in the work, as such, it would be quite interesting to see which of them eventually end up getting this massive camera lens. For now, we can only wait for more information, with more on the matter expected to be revealed next month.
