The last few days have been incredible for Signal and Telegram. Both these platforms have reached new milestones as users continue to migrate from WhatsApp after the announcement of a policy update by the latter. Signal and Telegram are believed to be more secure but even they have a big problem that has got everyone worried. Both these platforms tend to send out notifications every time a new contact joins the platform. Several users have even taken to social media platforms to flag this issue.
Thankfully, both Signal and Telegram allow users to disable these alerts. They just need to turn off the 'Contact joined' option from the settings section. If you are one of those who are facing this issue, follow the below mentioned steps.

Step 1: Open Signal on your smartphone.
Step 2: Tap on the three-dotted icon, located on the top right side of the screen.

Both Signal and Telegram have seen a massive surge in number of downloads after WhatsApp's announcements. While Signal has seen 2.3 million new downloads between January 6 and January 10, Telegram has surpassed 500 million monthly active users. Meanwhile, WhatsApp's downloads fell by 35 per cent during the same time period, with 1.3 million new downloads between January 6 and 10, according to Sensor Tower.
Following the increased demand, Signal also faced a global outage during the weekend but was up after a break.
"Signal is back! Like an underdog going through a training montage, we've learned a lot since yesterday — and we did it together. Thanks to the millions of new Signal users around the world for your patience. Your capacity for understanding inspired us while we expanded capacity," the Signal foundation said.
