Sony has launched a new ultra-compact Sony Alpha 7C full-frame mirrorless camera. The Alpha 7C, where "C" stands for compact, is meant for vloggers having in mind. The a7C camera model has borrowed quite a few characteristics from the Sony a7III. The new camera sports the same 24.2-megapixel Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor, BIONZ X image processor, 5-axis in-body image stabilisation, 4K video recording, 10fps continuous shooting speed and more.

Sony a7C certainly bundles up features such as 15-stop dynamic range, standard ISO up to 51,200, real-time tracking AF with 693-point focal-plane phase-detection. Being a compact camera body, the a7C weighs around 509 grams and the company claims that "the Alpha 7C is similar in size and weight to an APS-C camera, with only 1 percent more weight than the Alpha 6600."

In order to keep the camera fun-sized, the company included a 2.35 million dot 0.39-inch viewfinder with a magnification of 0.59x. There is also a touch-screen LCD display with approximately 921 thousand dots for better visibility even in bright outdoor conditions. The LCD monitor supports touch focus, tracking and shutter operations.

For the battery, Sony a7C has NP-FZ100 battery which provides "enough power for long shooting durations and to capture up to an industry-leading 740 images when using the LCD monitor, or 680 images when using the viewfinder." Other specs include a single SD UHS-II memory card slot which can be accessed from the side of the camera.

Along with Sony a7C ultra-compact camera, the company has also announced a FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 standard zoom lens. The new lens, which weighs around 167 grams, comes with three aspherical lens elements to suppress aberrations in the optical system.

The Sony Alpha 7C compact full-frame camera will be available in late October and the FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 zoom lens will be available in early 2021, as noted in the press release. Both the new products will be up for grabs in North America. The launch timeline of the new camera and lens in India is unknown.
