The long-awaited successor to Sony's hugely popular successful 2019 WF-1000XM3 is out. The Sony WF-1000XM4 is its 2021 update, and they look to go one better than their predecessors.

The Sony WF-1000XM4 sports a more rounded shape with distinctive copper highlights similar to the WH-1000XM4 headphones. They are about 10 per cent smaller than their predecessors and boast a newly designed integrated processor, V1.

The Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) on these wireless earbuds is one of the best, as there are dual noise sensing microphones one a feed-forward and the other feedback. The result, accurate ambient noise cancellation that compares to none. The Sony WF-1000XM4 TWS has been launched at $279 (roughly Rs. 20,500). At the moment, there's no word on the availability of the Sony WF-1000XM4 in India.

They bring LDAC support and DSEE Extreme upscaling for lossless audio, ideal for high-res streaming services. The ANC earbuds come with a 6mm driver for dynamic sound reproduction. The Adaptive Sound Control (ASC) adjusts according to ambient sound settings, depending on the surrounding environment, for the ideal listening experience.

The WF-1000XM4 now features Sony's Speak-to-Chat technology that cuts off the sound the minute the earbuds hear your voice. That means you can talk to people and hear their responses without needing to take the buds out of your ears.

The Sony WF1000XM4 is the world's first wireless earbuds to feature LDAC codec support. This should allow the earbuds to carry a larger amount of data over Bluetooth, thereby leading to better audio quality.

Quick Attention' mode available on the WF-1000XM4 lets you listen to an announcement or say something briefly by simply placing your finger over the left earbud to decrease the volume instantly and let ambient sound in.

The earbuds also support fast charging. A 5-minute charge is enough to provide an additional 60 minutes of music playback. The carrying case supports Qi wireless charging, though there's also a USB-C port for faster charging.

As you might expect, the WF-1000XM4 is fully compatible with Alexa and Google's Assistant. WF-1000XM4 has a bone-conduction sensor for the clearest voice quality even in a noisy environment for seamless calling. The wireless earbuds have 8 hours of music playback, while the charging case provides an additional 24 hours of battery backup.

The wireless earbuds are IPX4 water and sweat-resistant and can be used during workouts. They further incorporate the latest BT 5.2 and True Wireless connections for pairing with devices.

For easy pairing, the earbuds support Fast Pair, so you will be able to pair it with your Android device with just a single tap. The earbuds also support Microsoft Swift Pair for easy pairing with Windows 10 devices.
