If you are forgetful and don't remember replying to your friends, parents, Google Messages is working on a feature that would help you sort this issue soon. Google Messages is developing a feature similar to Gmail's Nudge. The feature would remind users to respond to the messages, they have missed replying to. Gmail got the feature called Nudge, which practically does the same job of reminding people to revert to mails, back in 2018. Now Google wants to roll out the same feature for the Google Messages users.
XDA developers report that it has spotted several strings at the Google Messages beta that hint at automated reminders coming to the messaging app. This would be an opt-in feature. If you enable it, you would be reminded to respond to conversations you have not replied to or are yet to reply to. It doesn't matter whether you have opened the message or read the chat, if the chat requires a response, Google Messages will ask you to do it.
XDA has shared a screenshot of the upcoming Nudges feature that was spotted in the new beta update of Google Messages. The screenshots show the Nudges option, if you enable it, the app will automatically display "messages you might have forgotten to respond to" and "messages you might need to follow up on." The feature has not been rolled out to the users yet. The feature has just made an appearance in one of the beta updates. Google is yet to make an official announcement about the same.
Earlier, this year Google had rolled out special features for its messaging app like the auto-deletion of OTPs and sorting messages into categories. Google Messages lets users automatically delete their one-time passwords (OTPs) 24-hours after they are received. An OTP expires after say 2 to 3 minutes but Google Messages will delete these messages after 24 hours. To enable the auto-deletion feature, just tap continue when you see the suggestion prompt to confirm your selection.
Google Messages had also made it easier for users to find their messages according to categories. Google has added tabs including Personal, Transactions, OTPs and more. The personal messages would be under the Personal tab, the messages about your transactions would appear under the Transactions tab. This would make it easier for users to check messages as per the categories. They will also get to focus on the more important one.
