IQOO has gone official in India. As opposed to how it operates in China, the brand has come to our shores as an independent entity -- one which the company claims will not be associated with Vivo in any shape or form.
While announcing its entry into the Indian market, the brand also confirmed that it's working on a number of new phones which it plans to gradually launch in India through the year. Interestingly, the first of these will be a 5G ready Snapdragon 865 totting smartphone -- a device whose existence India Today Tech had learned of a few days ago via sources close to the matter.
Although no exact date has been given, a February 2020 India launch for the device is expected, making it the first smartphone to be launched with a 5G ready Snapdragon 865 chipset in the country.
The brand's entry into India was announced by IQOO's Director of Marketing, Gagan Arora, who took out some time at the event to speak to India Today Tech. Speaking exclusively to us, he said that the company wants to enter the Indian market as a brand that brings best in class performance with its phones.
Arora also revealed that since India will be a focus market for IQOO, it wants to bring industry first innovations to the country with its products. He also informed us that this commitment will be highlighted in the smartphone that the company launches next month with the device also bringing an innovative battery technology with it. Although he stopped short of disclosing specifics, he did say this battery tech will be an industry first.
He further added that this device will be a premium segment device, one that is likely to go up against the flagships from Samsung, Oppo and OnePlus, but will stay true to the roots of IQOO as it will also bring a special gaming feature that will powered both by hardware and software solutions.
The focus will be on the experience which is driven by performance Our focus is to get the latest and best in technology to our consumers. Gaming will be one of the aspects that we will focus with our upcoming phone.
The company has high hopes from India, and plans to sell approximately one million units across its line-up of phones in India. Interestingly, the company plans to manufacture all its phones in India and service them through its own centers that it plans to set-up across the country.
For now, all we can do is wait for IQOO to launch this phone and see for ourselves what it brings to the table. But if its previous releases from 2019 are anything to go by, we could be in for something interesting.
Case in point, the iQOO Neo 855 Racing Edition which was launched in December last year. The smartphone builds on the iQOO Neo 855 by using the more powerful Snapdragon 855+ SoC under the hood. The device was launched in a single 128GB UFS 3.0 storage variant with up to 12GB RAM.
The iQOO Neo 855 Racing Edition also sports a 6.36-inch Super AMOLED panel which includes an under-display fingerprint sensor. It packs three cameras on the back panel.
