There have been several hints on the upcoming Pixel 6 series by Google months before the expected launch date. Thanks to these leaks and speculations, we have been able to lock in on the design and specifications expected of the smartphones. A new such leak further confirms this idea.
New images of plastic back covers for the Pixel 6 have now made their way online. Shared by noted tipster Ice Universe on Twitter, the detailed images of the protective case show various speculations around the smartphone to be true.
The camera bump, for instance, is strikingly prominent in the new images. It shows a protruding, rectangular covering for the camera strip sloping to an end on each side. The top and bottom of this protrusion is lined with case wraps to protect from scratches.
Surprisingly enough, the top edge sports an opening which could be for a headphone jack. None of the earlier speculations, however, have hinted at the 3.5 mm audio jack. As pointed out by GSMArena, the hole could just be for the top microphone.
As rumoured earlier, the Pixel 6 is expected to sport stereo speakers at the bottom grille. The protective case in the new images can be seen having two openings for the speaker grilles at the bottom. These openings are placed on either side of a hole at the centre of the bottom edge, which is likely for a USB Type-C port.
Note that these are not the first such images of protective cases for the Pixel 6. A similar leak found its way to the Internet earlier this month. The images from both the leaks match and hence affirm the expectations from the leaks so far. The only slight anomaly is the added padding on the corners of the case seen in the previous leak.
As for the smartphone, it is almost confirmed that the Pixel 6 will feature Google's own Whitechapel chipsets, which will deliver performance somewhere between the Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 888. Google will also equip the processor with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) and an Image Signal Processor (ISP) for better-looking images through the smartphone cameras.
Other than this, the Pixel 6 has been rumoured to come with a Full HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, which will be a first for any Google phone. Colour options to be available on the devices will include green, silver and black, other than the famed orange that appears in each of the leaks.
