Nokia 2.3 budget smartphone is getting an additional year of replacement guarantee amidst the coronavirus lockdown underway in India. Any Nokia 2.3 unit purchased on or after April 1, 2020 will be eligible for replacement in cases of hardware or software malfunctions. The replacement guarantee was earlier applicable to Nokia 2.3 units that were bought on or before March 31, 2020. The Nokia 2.3 was launched in India last year for a price of Rs 8,199 but had seen a price cut earlier this year. Now, with the increase in GST on smartphones from 12 per cent to 18 per cent, HMD Global has raised the price of Nokia 2.3 to Rs 7,585, as well.
The Nokia 2.3 is a decent budget smartphone from the HMD Global's kitty that come with Android One programme. This ensures timely Android and security updates for two and three years, respectively. The smartphone is yet to receive the Android 10 update -- HMD Global had rescheduled the rollout timeline owing to the coronavirus pandemic that has affected on-ground activities and logistics. The Nokia 2.3 is the latest phone to the Nokia 2.X series and did not get a sequel at the recently-held online launch by HMD Global.
The price of Nokia 2.3 has also been increased to factor-in the changes in GST on smartphones. Previously priced at Rs 7,199, the Nokia 2.3 will now be available for Rs 7,585 along with fresh replacement guarantee for one year. It is available in Cyan Green, Sandal, and Charcoal colours. The new price is not reflected on the Nokia online store yet but that should change as soon as the deliveries begin after the lockdown period, depending on the coronavirus situation.
"Starting with the 1-year replacement guarantee on Nokia feature phones, we brought this industry-leading offer to a smartphone for the first time with Nokia 2.3 in December 2019. Given the popularity of this offer and some very positive feedback from consumers and our partners, we have decided to continue the replacement guarantee for all Nokia 2.3 purchased on or after 1st April 2020. Nokia 2 series has been one of our most successful franchises in the accessible segment in India and I hope this extension of the offer on a new Nokia 2.3 will delight our Indian consumers," said Sanmeet Kochhar, Vice President, HMD Global.
The Nokia 2.3 comes with specifications such as Android One-based Android 9 Pie software, a MediaTek Helio A22 processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via microSD card. The smartphone has a 6.2-inch HD+ LCD display with a notch at the top and Always-on Display feature. The Nokia 2.3 packs a 13-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel depth-sensing camera at the back while, for selfies, there is a 5-megapixel camera on the front. The phone also has an FM radio and supports Bluetooth v5.0. The Nokia 2.3 is backed by a 4000mAh battery.
