OnePlus has since long been predicted to bring a successor to its OnePlus Nord, launched in July last year. Several speculations have hinted at the arrival of the budget smartphone soon, but none of them confirmed its name to date. OnePlus now seems to have done so accidentally in an apparent slip up online.
The Chinese technology major recently shared a promo on its website, offering a free Stadia Premiere Edition with a purchase of an eligible Oneplus device. Stadia is Google's cloud-based gaming platform that allows users to play video games across screens instantly without any downloads for those unaware. Stadia Premiere Edition comprises a Stadia Controller and Google Chromecast Ultra.
It was this promo that ultimately made OnePlus spill the beans on its upcoming smartphone. The company listed the compatible devices for the bundle offer in a subsequent webpage. Like the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 9, the obvious ones were the clear mention of the name OnePlus Nord 2.
The listing has been taken down since it went live but not before Android Police was able to spot it for all of us, thus confirming the name and the existence of the smartphone enjoying much hype these days.
Least of all, the listing confirms the name of the smartphone for us. It had long been speculated that the OnePlus device would be called OnePlus Nord 2, but there had been no official confirmation from the company. The unintentional listing has now left no room for doubts.
Earlier hints and speculations on the smartphone have revealed that OnePlus might be launching the OnePlus Nord 2 in the coming months. The smartphone will come as a successor to OnePlus Nord, a budget offering by the firm that enjoyed healthy sales in India and global markets.
Two OnePlus smartphones were even spotted in a BIS certification listing recently, and it is expected that one of them was the OnePlus Nord 2. The other was speculated to be the OnePlus Nord CE 5G. Since the devices have gained their certification, they are likely to be launched in the country soon.
