Oppo details ColorOS 12 beta rollout roadmap, check full list of phones that will get Android 12

Your Reno 6 5G and Reno 6 Pro 5G are slated to get the Android 12 update next month with ColorOS 12 beta.

Story highlights
  • Oppo has announced that its ColorOS 12 is now available for Find X3 Pro.
  • Some latest Reno, F-series, and A-series phones will get it next month.
  • Oppo is rolling out ColorOS 12 only in beta right now.

Oppo has announced the roadmap for the rollout of its brand-new operating system called ColorOS 12 for its smartphones in India. The ColorOS 12 is the company's custom software based on Android 12, which is yet to reach Google Pixel phones while its AOSP version is already available. Oppo unveiled the Chinese version of ColorOS 12 sometime back, but it was still on Android 11, so Oppo phone users elsewhere will be upgraded to the latest Android version, although in beta, with the rollout from today.

Starting today, Oppo Find X3 Pro users in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand can update their handsets to ColorOS 12. But keep in mind, this is the beta version that Oppo has begun to seed, which means there may be stability issues. If you use your Find X3 Pro as your daily driver, I would suggest you hold on for now. Also, your unit needs to be unlocked, which means it should not be carrier-locked. But since Oppo never launched Find X3 Pro in India, the ColorOS 12 rollout for users here will begin next month.

If you have an Oppo Find X2, the ColorOS 12 should reach you next month. According to Oppo's roadmap, Find X2, Find X2 Pro, and Find X2 Pro Automobili Lamborghini Edition will get the Android 12 update next month. But this may not be very relevant because Oppo put only the Find X2 on sale last year, while the Find X2 Pro was handed out to select personalities, as well as people in the army for their service to the nation.

What is relevant then? The Reno series, the F-series, and the A-series.

Oppo said the Reno 6 5G, Reno 6 Pro 5G, and Reno 6 Pro 5G Diwali Edition will start receiving ColorOS 12 beta next month. Then, in December, smartphones including the Reno 6 4G, Reno 5, Reno 5 Marvel Edition, Reno 6Z 5G, Reno 5 Pro 5G, Reno 5 Pro, F19 Pro+, A74 5G, and A73 5G, will get Android 12-based ColorOS 12 beta. The year will end with the rollout having been completed on over a dozen Oppo phones, but the next year is going to be even bigger.

In the first half of 2022, Oppo is planning to roll out ColorOS 12 to Find X3 Lite 5G, Find X3 Neo 5G, Find X2 Neo, Find X2 Lite, Reno 10x Zoom, Reno 5 5G, Reno 5F, Reno 5 Lite, Reno 5Z 5G, Reno 4 Pro 5G, Reno4 5G, Reno 4F, Reno 4 Lite, Reno 4Z 5G, Reno 4 Pro, Reno 4 , Reno 4 Mo Salah Edition, Reno 3 Pro 5G, Reno 3 Pro, Reno 3 , Reno 5A, F19 Pro, F17 Pro, A94 5G, A94, A93, A54 5G, and A53s 5G. Then, in the second half, the ColorOS 12 beta will reach the F17, F19s, F19, A74, A73, A53, A53s, and A16s.

Keep in mind that this is ColorOS 12 beta and the stable version, so be certain about going ahead with the installation process. Oppo has not said anything about when stable versions of ColorOS 12 will begin rolling out. Also, there is no information about when ColorOS 12 will be available on OnePlus phones globally. Oppo has only announced ColorOS 12 for Chinese OnePlus devices, and this may mean that OnePlus phones elsewhere will continue to run OxygenOS unless there is an update from either Oppo or OnePlus.
