Xiaomi has teased the launch of a new Mi smart TV which is likely to feature an OLED display. The new television was teased on Chinese social media website Weibo. The electronics maker hasn't officially revealed too many details about the upcoming TV model, but a tipster suggests that it could be company's next generation OLED TV. Xiaomi had launched the Mi TV Lux series in July last year with OLED displays.
A Mi TV General manager has shared an image showing two different TV sets on Weibo. He then asked his followers to guess the new televisions. The teaser didn't reveal any details about the television but, could only be part of company's exercise to build hype around the upcoming product.
Xiaomi is known for using LED panels on its Mi TV range. The OLED panels are better and provide high contrast ratio and vivid colours.
Xiaomi had used OLED panel on its Mi TV Lux series last year. Launched in China, the Mi 65-inch 4K OLED TV Lux was priced at CNY 12,999 (around Rs 1,48,800). The company had also launched the Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition in August with a 55-inch OLED display at CNY 49,999 (around Rs 5,72,300).
It will be interesting to see when Xiaomi launches the new Mi TV and how much it prices the product at.
It has been aggressively targeting the category in India as well. Xiaomi had launched its most premium and largest Mi TV QLED 75 in India in April. The smart TV came with features like Dolby Vision, Alexa integration and a 4K panel. Before that, the company had introduced the first ever Redmi TV in the country in March. The Redmi TV was launched in three different screen sizes the largest being 75-inches.
Meanwhile, the company is planning to launch its new affordable smartphone Mi 11 Lite in the country alongside Mi Watch Revolve Active. The latter will be company's second smartwatch under the Mi branding in India, while Mi 11 Lite will be the fourth smartphone in the Mi 11 series.
