- The OnePlus Watch features a round screen.
Along with the OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro and the OnePlus 9R, the smartphone company will launch the OnePlus Watch today evening. This will be the company's first smart watch, and the second wearable after the OnePlus Band that was launched earlier. Now, just hours before the launch yet more photos of the OnePlus Watch have been leaked.
The leaked photos show that the OnePlus Watch will have a round screen and a design that is a homage to classic watch design. In other words, it is not going to look like the squarish Apple Watch that many companies have tried to copy. Instead, it will follow in the footsteps of Samsung's Galaxy Watches, although the OnePlus Watch does look slimmer and sleeker than what Samsung sells. The OnePlus Watch is also expected to come in a few special editions including the Cyberpunk, a report by Evan Blass stated.
The leaked photos also show that the OnePlus Watch will have two buttons on the right side of the dial and then it will be paired with silicone straps that look fairly similar to the straps that accompany Apple Watch or FitBit Watches.
While the design of the Apple Watch is fairly known, most of its specs and features are not. Though one thing has been confirmed. The OnePlus Watch will not run Google's Android WearOS. Instead, it will run what OnePlus calls "real-time OS". In a statement, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has said, "We chose to go with a smart wear operating system developed based on RTOS because we believe it provides you a smooth and reliable experience while offering a great battery life, covering some of the biggest concerns we've been hearing from people looking to buy a smartwatch."
There is a speculation that the OnePlus Watch will come with fast charging, similar to what we have seen in OnePlus phones. It is also safe to assume that the OnePlus Watch will be water and dust-resistant and will come with a heart rate sensor.
As far as price is concerned, the OnePlus Watch is expected to be relatively affordable. It seems that with its first Watch, OnePlus is not going after the high-end market that is dominated by Apple watch. Instead, it may target the market below Rs 20,000 price-point and compete with the likes of the FitBit Versa.
