Highlights

  • The Poco X2 has been leaked on the web, showing its front.
  • The X2 appears to have the same display as the Redmi K30 4G from China.
  • Poco will rely on MIUI 11 based on Android 10 for the X2.

It has been a while since the Poco X2 has been officially confirmed by Poco ever since it detached from Xiaomi a few weeks ago. Rumours have been suggesting that the Poco X2 is essentially rebadged Redmi K30 4G from China and so far, the official reveals have been pointing towards that. Leaks have also mentioned the same internals as the Redmi K30. However, for the first time, the Poco X2 has been spotted in the real world and it looks similar to the Redmi K30.

A prototype device bearing the Poco branding has been spotted by TechDroider and from what it seems, it is the upcoming Poco X2 that's launching in India on February 4. The images only show the front of the device but that's enough to give us a lot of information about the device. For once, we know how the display will look and whether the cameras will be similar to ones found on the Redmi K30. It seems that the answer is a big 'yes' to all these queries.

The authenticity of these pictures is still highly doubtful but given the content we have, it seems that it is most likely to be true. The alleged Poco device looks similar to the Redmi K30 from China from the front. The phone appears to have the same display as the K30 with narrow bezels and as Poco has confirmed the 120Hz refresh rate screen officially, it seems that Poco has lifted the display from the K30.

Similar to K30, the phone gets dual cameras at the front and yes, that also means a dual cutout for them in the top corner of the display. The prototype device also appears to be running on MIUI 11 based on Android 10. Sadly, the back of the device is hidden from view.

From what we have so far, it seems that Poco X2 will essentially be a rebadged Redmi K30 4G and Poco will try to position it in the market against the Realme X2. The Redmi K30 4G uses the same Snapdragon 730G chipset and gets a quad-camera setup at the back, with the main camera being a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor.

Poco is launching the phone on February 4 in India. The X2 is part of Poco's strategy to launch multiple devices this year, which also includes a successor to the Poco F1 later in the year.
