Highlights

  • Twitter is adding an undo tweet function via its paid subscription Twitter Blue.
  • Twitter Blue will also allow subscribers to use a new collection feature that lets users save and organise tweets and replies.
  • Twitter recently announced introducing Tip Jar, for people to directly pay other Twitter users for their content.

Twitter is set to launch its new subscription plan called Twitter Blue. After teasing the plans and the possible new additions for a while now, the micro blogging platform will reportedly unveil the new subscription service to American users first at $2.99 a month (Rs. 220 approx.). The service is likely to be priced around Rs. 200 when it is launched in India.

The undo tweet function is something many users of the social media network Twitter have long asked for, and according to reports getting access to it will cost them. That function and more may come to the micro blogging platform by way of a premium subscription service Twitter Blue, that will give users additional features the free version does not offer.

Twitter Blue will feature the highly anticipated undo tweet function which will allow users to delete a tweet and within 5 to 30 seconds of it being composed. Users will also be able to select where the Undo Tweet feature will be applied, with options that include original tweets, replies, tweet storms, and quote tweets.

Twitter Blue subscribers will also be able to use the new collections feature which will allow users to save and organise tweets into a collection that is easier to find at a later date.

At the beginning of May, Twitter announced via a blog post about their acquisition of ad blocker Scroll. Twitter's vice president of product added how they were planning to include Scroll as part of "an upcoming subscription offering we're currently exploring"

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said last July that Twitter would set a "really high bar" for when Twitter would ask customers to "pay for aspects of Twitter."

The news regarding Twitter Blue is the latest addition the platform has added to the social media network, following the announcement of a tip jar function for people to pay other Twitter users directly for their tweets and content. But in this case, it seems the company is asking people to pay for a few new fun abilities while they tweet.
