The mobile version of Twitter will get new shopping features soon. As per reports, the micro-blogging site is testing new features that would let users shop for products directly from the Twitter app. This feature will be useful for people who sell products online and for buyers who rely more on online shopping.
As per social media expert Matt Navara, Twitter is testing a new card that contains links to product pages on a shop's website. He revealed on Twitter that the card shows a new Product name, shop name, product price, and shop button. Confirming the same, Twitter told TechCrunch that the company is indeed working on a feature.
"We'restarting to explore ways to better support commerce on Twitter. We know people come to Twitter to interact with brands and discuss their favorite products. In fact, you may have even noticed some businesses already developing creative ways to enable sales on our platform," Twitter Revenue Lead, Bruce Falck, told Tech Crunch.
"This demand gives us confidence in the power of combining real-time conversation with an engaged and intentional audience. Imagine easily discovered, and quickly purchased, a new skincare product or trendy sneaker from a brand you follow with only a few clicks," Falck added.
The feature is being made available to a very small number of users at present. Twitter has not shared its plans of a larger rollout as of now.
Earlier in February, Twitter announced its plans of rolling out a paid subscription service called Super Follow. The feature will provide access to exclusive deals, content to creators for a monthly sum.
Twitter's Super Follow mode will give an opportunity to creators to earn money on the platform. Twitter will charge the followers and give them access to exclusive content including tweets, a badge indicating support, subscription to the newsletter, and more. Twitter would charge a monthly amount of $4.99 for a Super Follow subscription. This will help the publisher earn money from his fans.
"Exploring audience funding opportunities like Super Follows will allow creators and publishers to be directly supported by their audience and will incentivize them to continue creating content that their audience loves," Twitter said in a statement. Twitter has not officially rolled out the Super Follow feature yet.
