WhatsApp rolled out the much-awaited dark mode feature for Android beta users earlier this month. Now the Facebook-backed messaging app has unveiled a new feature for the dark mode users, which enables them to use more colour options instead of just black. So when WhatsApp rolls out the dark mode feature for all the non-beta users, it will already be loaded with features.

As per a WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has released an updated version 2.20.31 for the beta users on Android. The upgrade allows users to choose from six different colour options such as purple, brown, mustard, sea-green and blue while using the dark theme. However, only the dark black theme will help you conserve your battery and not the other colours.

However, one can only get the WhatsApp beta if they have enrolled for the Android beta program. The program now is closed for entries and users will have to wait till further announcement. For those who have already enrolled for the beta program, you can enable the dark mode by following these simple steps.

In the settings menu under Chats, go to Chat Wallpaper and select Solid Colors. Users also have the option to set images as per their preference.

The dark mode feature not only changes the entire look of the messaging app, but it also has many advantages for the users. The dark mode feature helps in conserving the battery life of your phone as it doesn't emit as many lights as the normal mode does. It is extremely useful for people who spend a lot of time on their phone as it reduces the light emission and balances the colour contrast ratio which is needed for readability.

Among all the social networking apps, Instagram already has a fully functional dark mode for all its Android and iOS users. To activate the feature, the Android users are required to upgrade to the Android 10 and the iPhone users should have the latest iOS 13.

Facebook, on the other hand, also had plans to roll out the feature for its users but there has been no confirmation about the same. Several reports revealed that the company has been experimenting with the feature for months but will take time to launch it.

Earlier, the WABetainfo informed that the app has introduced some new features like animated stickers and provided Delete Messages option among others.
