WhatsApp has finally rolled out a much-awaited feature. The messaging app has made the Always Mute feature available for group chats on WhatsApp. The feature was first spotted in the beta updates by WhatsApp features tracker, Wabetainfo. This new feature will help people get rid of those pesky WhatsApp groups forever.

As the name suggests, the Always Mute option will mute your group chats forever. Earlier, WhatsApp allowed users to mute their groups for eight hours, one week, and one year. So now the one year option has been replaced with Always Mute. The feature has been rolled out to iPhone and Android users as well. WhatsApp tweeted from its official Twitter handle to let people know about the new release. "You can now mute a chat forever," the tweet read.

Here is how you can mute your group chats forever

On WhatsApp, tap on the group you want to mute forever.

Tap on the name of the group when you open the chat

When you tap on the name, you will find the Mute options under group info.

Tap on Mute and then you will see the three options by WhatsApp.

When you mute your group forever, you will not get any notification from the group. No messages, pictures, or gifs will make it to your feed if you mute a chat forever. However, you also have the unmuting the chat if you feel that the group is not as useless as it used to be. You will have to follow the same steps to unmute the group.

Earlier in October, WhatsApp rolled out the Advanced search feature that allows user to search through their media. Announcing the new feature on Twitter, "We've made it easier for you to search through all your media (photos, GIFs, links, videos, documents, audio) on WhatsApp. You can now search for a specific contact, then choose the type of media and add keywords to more powerfully look through past chats and messages. This was updated for iPhone a few months ago, and is now also available across Android."
