Twenty-five years ago today, Microsoft announced its first operating system—the Windows 95 to the world of computers with much fanfare. The Windows 95, which became immensely popular amongst the PC users, was announced by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and Jay Leno. The Windows 95 was also touted as the first "user-friendly" operating system by Microsoft that came up with lots of interesting features and became a hit amongst first-time buyers.
Celebrating 25 years of Windows 95, Microsoft shared a short video about the evolution of Windows over the years. "Windows 95 was launched on August 24, 1995, introducing us to many of the experiences our customers still use to interact with their PCs today such as the Start menu and Taskbar. Over the past 25 years, we have evolved these experiences, building on this rich history of innovation," Brandon LeBlanc, Senior Program Manager, Windows Insider Program said in a blog post.
