You may soon be able to charge fully charge the phone in just 10 minutes. Yes, that might be possible. Xiaomi is reportedly working on a 200W fast charging to achieve the same. The technology might be introduced on the upcoming flagship smartphones by the company but a timeline on that is not clear. The unreleased tech was spotted by a tipster through a post on Chinese microblogging website Weibo. The leakster says that a flagship device with a 200W charging system is under works and will be launching this year.

According to the tipster, Xiaomi has an interesting way of achieving this. The company plans to offer 200W fast charging through a combination of wired, wireless and wireless charging. It has in the past come close to the mark with Mi 10 Extreme Commemorative Edition which offered 120W wired charging, 55W wireless charging and up to 10W reverse charging rates. Collectively, this comes down to 185W.

Interestingly, the development comes at a time when there is an ongoing debate around chargers with several brands exploring options to remove them from the retail box. Xiaomi did something similar with its recently launched Mi 11 but came users an option to opt for the charging brick without additional cost.

Apart from the fast charging system, Xiaomi is also believed to be working on foldable phones with internal in-folding design. However, none of this has been confirmed by the company.

Meanwhile, it recently unveiled the Mi Air Charge, a remote charging technology which can wirelessly charge multiple devices simultaneously without the need of any cables or contact. The users just need to stand in front of the charger and the device will be charged. The charging technology uses the "self-developed isolated charging pile" to throw energy beams at the device to be charged in air.

Xiaomi has claimed that the Air Charge technology is capable of delivering 5W of power, which will improve as the technology is upgraded with time. It announced that the technology will only work with smartphones for now but will support wearables and other accessories in future.
