  • Xiaomi has slashed the prices of the Mi A3 in India.
  • The base variant with 4GB RAM now starts at Rs 11,999.
  • The Mi A3 is scheduled to get an Android 10 update in mid-February.

Xiaomi has big plans for India in 2020 and one of them is bringing more premium Mi series models to the country. While that is set to happen in a few months time, Xiaomi currently sells one Mi branded phone in India- the Mi A3. Xiaomi's only Android One offering in the affordable segments has been among the most affordable phones running Google's stock version of Android. It's not the best phone you can pick in that price range but Xiaomi now wants to make the Mi A3 a better deal than before with another price cut.

The Mi A3 has received another price cut, bringing down the starting price to Rs 11,999. That's a discount of Rs 1,000 over the earlier price. The Mi A3 originally launched a few months ago at a starting price of Rs 13,999. Xiaomi hasn't stated any reasons behind the price cut but interested buyers will be happy to know that this is a permanent price reduction and there's no special hidden clause behind this.

For Rs 11,999, the Mi A3 will get you 4GB RAM and 64GB storage as standard. However, if you want more RAM and storage, you can spend up to Rs 14,999 and get the Mi A3 with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The phone is still available in three gradient colours- More Than White, Kind of Grey and Not Just Blue. The reduced prices are valid on all online and offline platforms where the phone sells.

For the price it sells, the Mi A3 is a great option to consider if you want Google's version of stock Android with Xiaomi's standout build quality and design. The Mi A3 is based on the Mi CC9e from China and shares the same specifications. The phone utilises a Snapdragon 665 chipset and relies on a 4030mAh battery that comes with support for 18W fast charging.

As with previous Mi A series phones, the A3 focuses highly on camera performance. For the main cameras, the A3 uses a 48-megapixel main camera that's paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera and 2-megapixel depth camera. The phone goes high on selfies with a 32-megapixel camera sitting in a waterdrop notch. The A3 uses an AMOLED panel that enables it to use an in-display fingerprint sensor but it comes with a HD+ resolution.

Being an Android One phones, the Mi A3 is set to get two versions of Android updates. The Mi A3 launched with Android 9 Pie and Xiaomi says the Android 10 update is coming in mid-February.
