After a not so long a wait, Xiaomi is all set to launch a new QLED 4K TV in India later today. Till now, the company has kept teasing the device aggressively, however, it has still not confirmed the exact product it will be launching today. But from what we know, the device is definitely going to be a TV, and also Xiaomi's most premium one in the country that with a QLED panel fitted on it.
As a premium offering, this new smart TV is expected to launch in India with a number of high-end features, including support for HDR10+, Dolby Vision and Xiaomi's own take on motion smoothening. The TV upon its launch is also expected to take the fight directly to OnePlus QLED TV, and also from the ones from TCL and Sony which also have offerings with QLED panels in the market.
Xiaomi is hosting today's event live virtually, which will be streamed using its YouTube and other social media profiles. The event will begin at 12pm today, and will be live for all Xiaomi fans to follow.
Mi QLED 4K TV: Expected price, specifications and features
While there is no guarantee of what the TV will bring with itself, or for the matter its pricing, there have been reports already about the device being a tweaked version of the existing Mi TV 5 Pro launched in China earlier. While in China, the TV retails for around the Rs 40,000 mark approximately, in India, the price could go up a little higher to compete effectively against OnePlus and TCL. However
As for the specifications, nothing is officially known about the device yet, but reports in the past have suggested the MI QLED 4K TV could come to India in a single 55-inch variant and bring a superior feature set with itself when compared to the competition, Reports say the TV will make a giant leap in display technology with the inclusion of a QLED panel. It will also bring support for technologies such as HDR10+, Dolby Vision and 100% color volume.
A leaked retail packaging in the past has also suggested that the name of the TV could be Mi TV Q1 55-inch. Apart from this, the TV has been leaked to support features such as Dolby Vision, Reality Flow, Google Assistant, and built-in Chromecast. It is tipped to have a power consumption of around 180W and net weight of 14.2kg. The TVs retail box is expected to also pack one remote control, warranty card, and a pair of stands. The company has also confirmed that the upcoming TV will support HDMI 2.1.
