- The company has said that restaurants would allow the delivery boys to pick the order for delivery if their temperature is normal
In the times of coronavirus, when almost one-third of the world is under lockdown, the food-delivery apps are proving to be a boon for people. Even such dire situations, apps like Zomato, Swiggy and Dunzo are trying their best to make things available to the customers
Meanwhile, Zomato has also taken the game a notch higher by now displaying the body temperature of the rider on the ap. However, this isn't something unheard of as China has been doing it for a while now.
Taking cues from China's delivery companies, Zomato has started showing the temperatures of delivery-partners on the app. When you place an order on Zomato, you will be assigned a delivery executive soon. Once the rider has picked the order from the restaurant, you will be able to see the rider's body temperature on the app.
Most of Zomato's restaurant partners are using thermal sensing devices to check the body temperatures of the delivery partners. The company has said that restaurants would allow the delivery boys to pick the order for delivery only if their temperature is normal.
Not just that, Zomato and its rival Swiggy had introduced no-contact delivery a few days ago keeping in mind the social distancing policy. For instance, if you have made the payment through prepaid payment method mode for your order, you can opt for no-contact delivery. Under this policy, the order will be dropped at your gate or doorbell without the driver contacting or handing over the order to you. This would reduce his and your chance of coming in contact with a complete stranger.
The food-delivery gains are also showing the list of restaurants that are following strict sanitization guidelines issued by the World Health Organisation.
Earlier, both Swiggy and Zomato announced that they would start delivering essential grocery items in selected cities. Swiggy has started delivering in 125 cities while Zomato delivers in 80 cities. Swiggy has partnered with Vishal Mega Mart, Marico and other FMCG to deliver through their stores.
Swiggy and Zomato will provide a list of stores that are operational in your area. You have to select the store and place your orders. However, there is a limit for Zomato customers. If your order exceeds 12kg, you will not be able to place the order. It should weigh either 12kgs or less than that, then only your orders will be delivered.
