Food delivery giant Zomato and Urban Company, formerly known as UrbanClap have asked all their employees to install the Aaorgya Setu app. For the unversed, the Aarogya Setu app is a contact tracing app developed by the government to track coronavirus cases. The app recently got a thumbs up from Microsoft founder Bill Gates. He even lauded the Indian government for coming up with an app like Aaorgya Setu to flatten the coronavirus curve.
Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal , in a series of tweets, said that they have made the app mandatory for their employees and delivery-partners as it would help them in knowing if they have come in contact with any COVID-19 positive patient. "We've started mandating each of our delivery partners to install and use the Aarogya Setu App.The idea is to keep individuals, as well as the authorities, informed in case they have crossed paths with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus to prevent further spread. We are also going to showcase that our delivery partners are using the Aarogya Setu app so that it gives our users confidence to get their essentials home-delivered, and not step out," Goyal tweeted.
Goyal also listed down how the Aaorgya Setu app will help their delivery partners and the customers. "In case our delivery partner comes in contact with an infected person or visits a hotspot area, authorities will know at the earliest. This will instantly enable us to isolate the delivery partner and support him/her for quarantine and treatment. In case everything's showing okay on the app, then a user knows for sure that whichever delivery partner is bringing their order to the doorstep is most likely safe and aware," he added.
Urban Company that connects users to electricians, carpenters, plumbers, and cleaners through their app have asked their employees and partners to download the Aarogya Setu app. The service providers are required to show their status to customers on the app before starting any sort of work at their homes. Even the customers will get a declaration form on the UC app before booking a service. They will have to self-declare that they do not have any symptoms of covid-19.
Talking about the measures UC is taking to keep its customers and partners safe, Abhiraj Bhal, Co-founder of Urban Company said in a statement, "Urban Company has put in place a strict six-step safety protocol for all services.
These protocols include daily temporary checks, wearing masks and gloves, sanitization of tools & surfaces, use of single-use sachets and disposables, sick leave program, etc. A very important SOP is our service partner showing consumers their status on the Aarogya Setu app before entering the consumer's house."
Interestingly, the Urban Company has also changed the outlook of their app now. The app now has a mask on it.
Coming to Aarogya Setu, it is an app developed by the Government of India that aims in providing information to the users of the app about the risks, best practices and relevant "advisories pertaining to the containment of COVID-19."
